About the job

The Documentation team is seeking a Technical Writer (Emerging Careers) to design and develop information that shows how to use the powerful capabilities of SAS products and solutions. In this role, you will collaborate with software developers, product managers, technical support analysts, training consultants, and many others to contribute to overall software quality and customer satisfaction in the fraud and security intelligence space. We use product expertise and information design principles to produce high-quality user assistance and product documentation that help our customers succeed.

 

As a Technical Writer (Emerging Careers), you will:

  • Design and develop customer-facing deliverables in the form of product documentation, embedded user assistance, how-to videos, API documentation, articles, and so on, as determined by the needs and preferences of the target audience.
  • Develop clear, accurate, and concise information, following all guidelines consistently and effectively. Guidelines include standard rules of grammar and usage as well as corporate guidelines in the form of content models and style.
  • Possess or develop expertise in one or more technical or business domains. Use expertise to develop information, examples, and illustrations that explain complex technical subjects in ways that make them easy to understand.
  • Work with product development teams (including software developers, product managers, technical support analysts, training consultants, and professional services implementation teams) to enhance your knowledge of product functionality and target audiences.
  • Use AI tools to advance product research, build structured content drafts, and accelerate the technical writing process. Collaborate with technical writers and software development teams to identify where AI adds the most value to developing and delivering technical information.
  • Collaborate with user-experience designers and software developers to provide clear user-interface text and software messages.
  • Respond directly to customer questions and feedback related to projects or areas of expertise.

Required qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical, quantitative, or communications field.
  • Two years of professional experience as a technical writer documenting software or one year of writing experience and two years of professional experience in a technical or business domain related to position.
  • Previous experience working in a Software Development environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to write clearly and concisely, applying standard rules of grammar.
  • Equivalent combination of related education, training and experience may be considered in place of the above qualifications.

  • Building Partnerships: Developing and leveraging relationships within and across work groups to achieve results.
  • Knowledge of or experience creating documentation for software solutions that employ a user interface, command line interface, and/or APIs to help customers solve business needs.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodology and CI/CD development processes.
  • Knowledge or understanding of Markdown syntax and Git.
  • Familiarity with or expertise in languages and formats such as SAS, CASL and CAS actions, R, Python, and JSON
