Associate System Engineer intern- Advanced Analytics for Risk, Fraud & Banking Innovations

Are you wrapping up your Master’s degree and eager to turn theory into real-world impact? At SAS, we’re looking for a tech-savvy intern who’s passionate about analytics and AI in the financial sectorsomeone who wants to work on solutions that help banks protect their customers, fight fraud, and make smarter decisions. 
This isn’t about making coffee (though ours is great) — it’s about building technology that keeps the financial system and the customers safer, faster, and more resilient. 

 

Join our Customer Advisory Team, a group of SAS Solution experts who simplify complex technical concepts and communicate them effectively to customers. As the best partner to our sales teams, we are always ready to explore, learn, and innovate. We design proof of concepts to demonstrate how SAS solutions solve real business challenges and meet customer needs. 

As an Associate System Engineer Intern in the Analytics team, you will focus on Finance customers, identifying new applications of SAS solutions and uncovering potential business development opportunities. You’ll analyze customer needs through formal documentation (e.g., business plans) and help shape solutions that deliver measurable impact. 

 

What You’ll Do 

  • Collaborate with sales and advisory teams to support Customer Advisory activities. 
  • Explore innovative applications of SAS analytics in banking and financial services. 
  • Assist in creating proof of concepts and demos tailored to customer requirements. 
  • Analyze customer documentation to identify business opportunities. 
  • Stay curious and continuously learn about SAS solutions and the financial domain. 

 

Required Qualifications 

  • You’re curious, passionate, authentic, and accountable—these values guide everything we do. 
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal). English proficiency is essential. German language skills are a plus. 
  • Interest or Academic experience (project, summer internship) in Banking 
  • Interest in the future of Analytics and emerging technologies. 
  • Currently enrolled in an accredited program nearing completion or a recent graduate. 
  • Preferred majors: Management Engineering, Quantitative Finance, Economics, or any 
  • Initial experience in banking or a completed banking apprenticeship is preferred 

Location   

  • Heidelberg, Germany 
  • On-site in office 3 Days a Week 
  • Remote 2 Days a Week
