What You’ll Do:
As a SAS Cloud Administrator in the Managed Cloud Services (MCS) team within SAS’s Cloud and Information Services (CIS) division, you will be responsible for the day-to-day administration, operation, and support of our hosted and remotely managed SAS environments.
This role requires strong technical and administrative expertise, a customer-focused mindset, and a commitment to operational excellence. You’ll work closely with customers, analysts, developers, and implementation teams to manage, monitor, and continuously improve enterprise-class SAS and third-party software systems.
In this role, you will:
- Collaborate with global R&D, Product, Technical Support, Project Management, Delivery, and other CIS teams to ensure stability, performance, and continuous improvement across managed environments.
- Apply IT Service Management (ITSM) best practices for Change, Incident, and Problem Management to meet SLA commitments for SAS Cloud customers.
- Ensure consistent service delivery, operational efficiency, and customer satisfaction across all hosted environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer, maintain, and support SAS Enterprise software and related solutions in the MCS environment.
- Perform installation, configuration, patching, and upgrades of SAS components and supporting software.
- Develop and maintain operational documentation, including implementation and post-implementation reports.
- Monitor system performance, diagnose and resolve issues, and proactively prevent recurring incidents using monitoring tools.
- Ensure adherence to SAS Cloud standards, compliance requirements, and operational best practices.
- Collaborate with customers and vendors to resolve issues and deliver reliable, secure services.
- Participate in capacity planning, performance optimization, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Required Experience and Background
- 5+ years of technical experience, including at least three of the following areas:
- Enterprise Platform Support (1+ year)
- Systems, user, or customer support for enterprise-class software/hardware (1+ year)
- UNIX/Linux administration for enterprise applications (1+ year; strongly preferred)
- Cloud implementation or migration projects (1+ year)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Microsoft Azure (preferred); AWS or GCP experience an advantage.
- Hands-on experience with ITSM tools such as ServiceNow.
- ITIL certification desirable.
- Experience with Python, Ansible, or other automation tools.
- Familiarity with Kubernetes and containerized environments.
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as Bash or PowerShell.
- Knowledge of installing, managing, and using SAS software and solutions (optional).
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Demonstrated alignment with SAS values – curiosity, passion, authenticity, and accountability.
Additional Skills and Abilities:
- Strong understanding of security, performance, networking, and server design.
- Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new systems and technologies from documentation.
- Proficiency in Linux administration, including configuration, troubleshooting, and automation.
- Ability to develop scripts or automation programs for routine system administration tasks.
- Solid understanding of networking and distributed computing concepts.
- Excellent communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset with high attention to detail.
- Proven ability to work effectively with internal teams, vendors, and external stakeholders.
- Prior experience in technical support or managed services environments is an advantage.

SAS Offers a hybrid approach to working. Travel is expected to client meetings and SAS offices when needed.
