About the job
The Software Globalization team is looking for a Localization Engineer.You will help develop, maintain and support the Localization Pipeline and technology at SAS, guide the team forward with adopting GenAI technology to assist the Localization process, and ensure the Globalization Project Management, Translation and QA teams have all the tools and solutions in place to effectively perform their tasks.
Globalization is a division of R&D that enables global revenue at SAS by focusing on the international customer experience. We accomplish this thanks to our team of multicultural employees, distributed throughout the globe.
As a Localization Software Engineer, you will:
Designs and develops high quality and scalable solutions within established timelines while adhering to R&D best practices and processes.
Participates in the construction, development and maintenance of the localization pipeline and solutions.
Works to develop and improve GenAI-powered tools, libraries and features for multilingual support.
Handles implementation and proper support of various file types in our TMS.
Discusses issues and solutions with localization project managers, translators, and other key stakeholders to improve localization efficiency and quality and develops solutions or tools as necessary.
Participates in project scoping and scheduling; tracks progress of individual tasks and alerts project lead or manager of issues meeting schedule.
Maintains accountability for the entire life cycle of the code including support for both internal and external consumers.
- Be encouraged to participate in open-source projects on behalf of SAS.
- Ensure all applicable security policies and processes are followed to support the organization's secure software development goals.

Required Qualifications
8+ years of software engineering or Localization experience.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics or related quantitative field
Possesses strong programming skills in Go, Python and Typescript
Working knowledge of software localization, methodologies, and languages
Has extensive experience with Jira, Confluence, Github (workflows and actions), Gitlab and Gerrit.
Flexibility and ability to learn new technologies
- Located in the Eastern or Central Time Zone (US) and have the ability to adjust working hours to accommodate a variety of time zones
- Equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered in place of the above qualifications.
Additional competencies, knowledge and skills
Working knowledge of various TMS including Smartling
Is self-motivated, proactive, thinks analytically and able to effectively communicate problems and fixes
Works independently or with a team, under tight deadlines.
Possesses interpersonal, documentation, and problem-solving skills
Ability to work in a multicultural, multilingual and collaborative environment
Familiarity with agile development practices and CI/CD pipelines.
Proficiency in additional language(s) is a plus
