About the job

The Test Engineering team plays a critical role in ensuring the quality and reliability of JMP. We work closely with developers and product teams to validate new features, identify issues, and maintain a high standard of software excellence.

 

We are seeking a talented and versatile functional Test Engineer to join our Test Engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for testing a broad array of JMP features, including the data grid, data access features, integration with Python, graphical elements, and more. There is a scripting and programmatic component to the job, in addition to being expected to navigate and explore interactively and effectively. You’ll play a key role in all aspects of the development life cycle, from ideation and prototypes, to identifying issues, to validating final functionality. We are looking for a skilled person with a curious mindset who is high-energy and likes working in a fast-paced environment.

 

As a Test Engineer, you will:

  • Create test plans and execute functional test cases across desktop, networked, and cloud-based environments.
  • Collaborate with developers and engineers to understand requirements, ensure test coverage, and mitigate risk areas.
  • Evaluate, track, and verify bug fixes and new feature implementations.
  • Contribute new tests to existing automated test frameworks.
  • Participate in test planning and contribute to continuous improvement of testing processes and internal tools.
  • Participate in end-of-release testing tasks as JMP moves to more frequent releases.
  • Review product documentation, assist with creation of documentation examples.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related quantitative field.
  • 5+ years of experience in functional testing of computer software or writing software applications.
  • Experience with Python for scripting or test automation.
  • Knowledge of both Windows and Mac environments and how to work effectively within them.
  • Understanding of software development lifecycle and QA methodologies.
  • Demonstrate flexibility in adapting to changing priorities.
  • Strong communication and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.

 

Preferred Skills:

  • Speak and read a 2nd language. Comfortable using software in one or more non-English languages.
  • Experience with internationalization testing (I18N).
  • Interest in using and evaluating LLM behavior and performance.
  • Exposure to automated testing tools or scripting languages.
  • Experience with cloud platforms, especially AWS.
  • Working knowledge of Jira, Confluence, and Bitbucket.
  • Knowledge of JMP or similar statistical software is a plus.
