About the job
The Sr Manager Data Center Operations is responsible for leading a team of high performing engineers that will manage all aspects of data center operations. This includes the management of critical facilities engineers, data center deployment engineers, and co-location facilities. The scope of the work also extends to critical facilities work throughout the SAS Cary Headquarters located in Cary, NC.
As a Sr Manager Datacenter Operations, you will:
- Lead a team of engineers responsible for maintaining all critical facilities throughout the Cary, NC SAS headquarters. This includes UPS, generation (power), and HVAC (CRACs, Chillers, cooling towers).
- Lead a team of engineers responsible for the deployment of all computing infrastructure (CPU, Network, Storage) within the datacenter.
- Management of co-location facilities.
- Management of all structured cabling services.
- Perform risk assessment of all planned changes.
- Capacity planning for all aspects withing the data center and co-locations such as power, cooling, and space.
- Create comprehensive future data center strategy options and work with senior/executive leadership to align to a single option.
- Create execution/operational plans on achieving the future data center strategy keeping focus on how to reduce risk, cost, and timelines.
- Own the execution and accountability of achieving the future data center strategy.
- Understanding of ITIL framework.
- Management, documentation, and communication of all changes.
- Be accountable for all work performed by staff and outside service personnel.
- Manage service/maintenance contracts and associated budgets.
- Ensure team members have what they need to succeed to meet their goals and objectives.
- Grow and coach your team and work on growing new leaders within the organization
Additional Responsibilities
- Work with team to standardize processes.
- Cost optimization: Analyze existing services to determine how to cut costs.
- Ability to manage escalations and shift priorities based on business needs.
- Understanding on how to architect/design to meet compliance/security standards.
- Track/Manage/Budget/Communicate all relevant service/maintenance activities.
Required Qualifications
- 12+ years of professional experience.
- Strong management and leadership skills.
- Knowledge of critical facilities systems.
- Experience with building monitoring systems (BMS).
- Good ability to handle multiple projects at the same time.
- Good ability to supervise and train employees with varying skill sets in a high-pressure environment.
- Experience in data center facility systems, electrical, UPS, generation, and/or mechanical systems
- Excellent facilitation skills, including meeting content/agenda and proactive/creative management.

- Electrical or HVAC license
- Ability to think outside the box and find alternative solutions to complex problems
