About the job 

The Midtier Platform team within the SAS9 division is seeking a Software Developer, specializing in Java/Spring,  to help build and maintain the core platform that supports all SAS9 web-based products. The team focuses on securing and modernizing the platform, improving quality and performance, and resolving field-reported issues. In this role, you’ll design, develop, and update scalable, maintainable software, troubleshoot issues, and work with SAS Technical Support to assist customers. This is a key opportunity to contribute to a platform that underpins a broad range of SAS products.

 

As a Software Developer (Java/Spring), you will:  

  • Develop high-quality, testable, and scalable software solutions in Java on Windows and Linux, adhering to R&D best practices and timelines.
  • Collaborate with developers, testers, and product teams to ensure solutions meet functional requirements and quality standards.
  • Participate in design, code, and documentation reviews.
  • Implement automated unit, functional, and performance testing to ensure software reliability.
  • Support the full software lifecycle, including maintenance and technical assistance for internal and external users.
  • Participate in open-source projects on behalf of SAS.
  • Ensure that all applicable security policies and processes are followed to support the organization’s secure software development goals.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience designing and developing scalable, enterprise-grade software systems.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related quantitative field.
  • Proficient in Java and Spring, with development experience on both Windows and Linux platforms.
  • Solid background in large-scale, web-based enterprise application development.
  • Skilled in modern development tools and methodologies, including Git, GitHub, Gerrit, and CVS.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly learn and apply new technologies.
  • Proven track record of contributing to team success in cross-functional environments.

  • Knowledge of the SAS 9 product line and middle tier architecture.
