About the job   

 

The SAS9 Visual Platform Products team is looking for a software developer to support the SAS procedures which are focused on data quality, graph and the SAS output delivery system. We’re a hybrid team of developers and testers who thrive on variety and collaboration. Our team supports a unique mix of technologies—from core components of the SAS programming language to desktop applications and modern web apps.

As a Software Developer (C), you will:    

 

  • Program in C in a Linux or Windows environment.  
  • Design and develop high quality, testable and scalable software solutions within established timelines while adhering to R&D best practices and processes.  
  • Participate in scoping, planning, and tracking work on complex software development projects in a continuous delivery environment.  
  • Collaborate with other developers, testers, project managers, and product managers to ensure implementations satisfy functional requirements and are consistent with established R&D standards.  
  • Actively participate in design, code, and documentation reviews.  
  • Ensure quality through automated functional, unit, and performance testing.  
  • Maintain accountability for the entire life cycle of the product code, including providing technical support for both internal and external consumers. 
  • Be encouraged to participate in open-source projects on behalf of SAS.  
  • Ensure all applicable security policies and processes are followed to support the organization’s secure software development goals.  

 

Required Qualifications 

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related quantitative field 
  • 5 years experience in software development experience with C, C++, or Rust.  
  • In-depth knowledge of one or more industry-standard output formats: HTML5/CSS, PDF, SVG, Office XML  
  • Lua programming experience  
  • Strong computer programming skills with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.  
  • Ability to work independently and within a team.  
  • An equivalent combination of related education, training and experience may be considered in place of the above qualifications.

Preferred Qualifications 

 

  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and associated tools like Git, Gerrit, Jenkins etc.  
  • Experience with SAS programming.  
  • Experience with SQL programming or SQL databases.  
  • Familiarity with Linux
