Technical Architect - Remote or Hybrid

Nice to meet you!

We’re a leader in data and AI. Through our software and services, we inspire customers around the world to transform data into intelligence - and questions into answers.

We’re also a debt-free multi-billion-dollar organization on our path to IPO-readiness. If you're looking for a dynamic, fulfilling career coupled with flexibility and world-class employee experience, you'll find it here.

About the job

SAS Managed Cloud Services (MCS) is seeking a Technical Architect with a passion for building a world-class customer experience by designing and standardizing the developer, product support, and operator toolchain for SAS Viya workloads on Azure and AWS. You will focus on empowering project and operations teams through CI/CD automation, data-movement pipelines, observability, and well-documented SDKs in order to enable teams to ship, monitor, and scale SAS workloads with confidence and consistency.

In this role, you will lead the design and integration of platform toolchains that support modern cloud-native operations and software development practices. You will partner closely with product, engineering, and operations teams to keep our cloud services easy to consume, ultimately elevating the customer and developer experience.

As a Technical Architect, you will:

  • Design, implement, and optimize the end-to-end toolchain (including CI/CD pipelines, data-movement processes, observability tooling, and SDKs) that powers development, deployment, and operation of SAS solutions in Azure and AWS.
  • Lead initiatives to simplify onboarding, streamline deployments, and enhance self-service capabilities for internal and external users.
  • Build resilient frameworks that enable rapid, safe releases and real-time monitoring, ensuring robust performance and quick recovery from failures.
  • Work with product, engineering, and operations to align platform capabilities with customer and market needs, driving continuous improvement in service delivery.
  • Produce clear architectural diagrams, playbooks, and technical documentation to support onboarding, troubleshooting, and operational excellence.
  • Promote cost optimization, security best practices, and operational automation throughout the toolchain lifecycle.
  • Continuously evaluate emerging cloud and DevOps technologies, integrating best-of-breed solutions into our platform to maintain a leading edge.

Required Qualifications

  • Five years of experience in technical architecture, DevOps, or platform engineering roles.
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in computer science, engineering, or a related field.
  • Equivalent combination of related education, training and experience may be considered in place of the above qualifications.
  • Experience designing and managing developer/operator toolchains, including CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, and observability platforms.
  • Hands-on experience with Azure and AWS cloud environments.
  • Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and microservices-based applications.
  • Proficiency in scripting, automation, and SDK/API development.
  • Demonstrated ability to produce technical documentation, including architecture diagrams and solution design documents.
  • You’re curious, passionate, authentic and accountable. These are our values and influence everything we do.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with SAS Viya, analytics platforms, or large-scale data processing environments.
  • Familiarity with Agile development and Scrum Product Owner practices.
  • Background in customer success, developer relations, or platform enablement.
