Job Description

Technical Architect- Health & Life Sciences Remote or Hybrid

Nice to meet you!

We’re a leader in data and AI. Through our software and services, we inspire customers around the world to transform data into intelligence - and questions into answers.

We’re also a debt-free multi-billion-dollar organization on our path to IPO-readiness. If you're looking for a dynamic, fulfilling career coupled with flexibility and world-class employee experience, you'll find it here.

About the job

SAS Managed Cloud Services (MCS) is seeking a Technical Architect to lead the architecture and delivery of validated Health and Life Sciences (HLS) solutions using modern cloud platforms in public cloud environments—primarily Azure and AWS. This role is pivotal in designing, deploying, and maintaining secure, compliant, and scalable solutions for regulated HLS customers.

You’ll leverage deep technical expertise and industry knowledge to deliver robust solutions aligned with HLS regulatory requirements (such as HIPAA, GxP, and HITRUST), ensuring reliability, data integrity, and operational excellence across managed cloud offerings. You’ll also play a critical role in validating new solution architectures, enabling repeatable deployments, and maximizing value for our healthcare, pharma, and life sciences customers.

As a Technical Architect, you will:

  • Architect, validate, and maintain field-deployed HLS solutions on Azure and AWS, ensuring they meet industry certification standards for regulated environments.
  • Design and oversee implementations that comply with relevant HLS regulations (e.g., HIPAA, GxP, HITRUST, 21 CFR Part 11), partnering with internal security, compliance, and product teams.
  • Deliver repeatable, scalable, and cost-effective deployment patterns using cloud-native services (Kubernetes, managed databases, secure networking) tailored for HLS workloads.
  • Work closely with Sales, R&D, CIS, and Product Management to evaluate customer requirements and guide the integration of new or updated HLS offerings.
  • Produce and maintain detailed architecture diagrams, validated solution documentation, and non-functional requirements for customer-facing and internal use.
  • Provide expertise on cloud cost optimization, reliability, and operational best practices, continuously improving our validated HLS solutions portfolio.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to clients and internal stakeholders, supporting new product launches and the onboarding of innovative HLS capabilities into Managed Cloud.

Required Qualifications

  • Five years of experience as a technical architect, with a focus on public cloud solutions (Azure and AWS preferred).
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or related field.
  • Equivalent combination of related education, training and experience may be considered in place of the above qualifications.
  • Proven experience designing, validating, and supporting Health and Life Sciences solutions in regulated cloud environments.
  • Deep knowledge of microservices-based architectures.
  • Hands-on expertise with Kubernetes, Docker containers, and cloud-native services for stateless and stateful applications.
  • Experience building, validating, and supporting CI/CD pipelines.
  • Skilled in producing and communicating technical documentation, architecture diagrams, and compliance requirements.
  • You’re curious, passionate, authentic and accountable. These are our values and influence everything we do.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Direct experience with SAS Viya, SAS solutions, or other advanced analytics platforms.
  • Experience with validated system development and deployment in Health and Life Sciences or other regulated industries.
  • Experience working with Agile and/or Scrum teams.
  • Experience as a Scrum Product Owner.
  • Familiarity with SAS solution validation processes or similar regulatory frameworks.
