About the job
The Software Globalization team is looking for a Localization Engineer.You will help develop, maintain and support the Localization Pipeline and technology at SAS, guide the team forward with adopting GenAI technology to assist the Localization process, and ensure the Globalization Project Management, Translation and QA teams have all the tools and solutions in place to effectively perform their tasks.

As a Localization Software Engineer, you will:
- Designs and develops high quality and scalable solutions within established timelines while adhering to R&D best practices and processes.
- Participates in the construction, development and maintenance of the localization pipeline and solutions.
- Works with the Globalization PM, Translation and Testing teams to provide localization development and technical support.
- Works to develop and improve GenAI-powered tools, libraries and features for multilingual support.
- Contribute to the design and development of AI-based agentic localization frameworks/services to support both internal and external use cases.
- Works with the Development teams to ensure proper support that satisfies functional requirements for their projects in the localization pipeline.
- Handles implementation and proper support of various file types in our TMS.
- Collaborate with team members and partners to improve the current Machine Translation system using new GenAI-powered MT solutions.
- Discusses issues and solutions with localization project managers, translators, and other key stakeholders to improve localization efficiency and quality and develops solutions or tools as necessary.
- Participates in project scoping and scheduling; tracks progress of individual tasks and alerts project lead or manager of issues meeting schedule.
- Designs, develops, and maintains other tools to improve localization efficiency and quality.
- Maintains accountability for the entire life cycle of the code including support for both internal and external consumers
- Performs tools and platform support during software localization.
- Document tools, processes, and workflows to allow others to learn and assist.
- Exercises good judgment as to methods, techniques and evaluation criteria.
- Solves problems with little to no guidance.
- Mentors and assists activities of junior developers.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of software engineering or Localization experience.
- Bachelor's degree in English, Computer Science, Mathematics or related quantitative field
- Working knowledge of software localization, methodologies, and languages
- Working knowledge of various TMS including Smartling
- Possesses interpersonal, documentation, and problem-solving skills
- Possesses strong programming skills in Go, Python and Typescript
- Has extensive experience with Jira, Confluence, Github (workflows and actions), Gitlab and Gerrit.
- Is self-motivated, proactive, thinks analytically and able to effectively communicate problems and fixes
- Works independently or with a team, under tight deadlines.
- Flexibility and ability to learn new technologies
- Ability to work in a multicultural, multilingual and collaborative environment
- Familiarity with agile development practices and CI/CD pipelines.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal in English.
- Proficiency in additional language(s) is a plus
- Right to work in Spain
- Equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered in place of the above qualifications.
