About the job

The Video Communications and Corporate Shows team is looking for a Media Systems Engineer to be responsible for the development, implementation, operation and maintenance of video, audio encoding hardware and software for the department, as well as assist in maintaining the physical library of video assets. Our department is responsible for producing video/audio content and events for SAS, both internally and externally. Our team works across the organization, producing content and shows for executive leadership, Marketing, Sales, HR and other departments. Our building has two video studios, an auditorium, two post suites, and two audio editing suites that all ties into our master control facility to aid in the production of this material. We are responsible for assets involved in video production, webcasting, audio production and event production.

 

As a Media Systems Engineer, you will:

  • Recording of live studio/auditorium events.
  • Installation, maintenance and repair of video and audio hardware in a control room and studio environment.
  • Assist in the ingestion, transcoding and delivery of video/audio assets to SAS and external clients.
  • Provide technical expertise in identifying, evaluating and developing department systems that are cost effective and meet user requirements.
  • Evaluates and reports on cutting edge technologies in the digital media industry.
  • Recommends production equipment to ensure that technical standards are met.
  • Monitors projects statuses and communicates findings with project participants.
  • Ensures all applicable security policies and processes are followed to support the organization’s secure software development goals.

 

Required Qualifications

  • 5 years of experience working with and maintaining encoding systems in a production environment.
  • Experience in the following areas desired: digital video/computer systems design, development and integration.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science/Engineering or in a related field.
  • Equivalent combination of related education, training and experience may be considered in place of the above qualifications.
  • Ability to work onsite five days per week.
  • Considerable knowledge of department systems and familiarity with related organizational systems, hardware systems and other software programs.
  • Good organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to understand and articulate users' business requirements and needs.
  • Understanding of networking protocols for video/data over IP.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledgeable in the use of Telestream Vantage encoding software (or equivalent), Facilis Storage systems (or equivalent), Microsoft Server OS, Database management.
  • DANTE audio troubleshooting.
  • Utah Scientific a/v router programming.
  • Riedel intercom setup.
  • Studio camera shading operation.
