About the job

Critical Facilities Engineer (CFE) is part of the SAS Cloud & Information Services department. CFE’s support the corporate data center infrastructure for over 47,000 square feet in headquarters located in Cary, NC as well as provide technical support for remote offices throughout the world. The CFE will be a member of the engineering team responsible for all aspects of the complex Data Center mechanical, electrical, uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) and Diesel Generation systems at SAS HQ.

 

As a Critical Facilities Engineer, you will:

  • Write specifications and lead projects for, installs, repairs, and maintenance of Data Center and building critical facility supported systems such as UPS, generation (power), and HVAC (CRACs, Chillers, cooling towers).
  • Produce and maintain current documentation on equipment layouts and system configurations.
  • Oversee preventive maintenance performed by outside service personnel, performs preventive maintenance for specified support systems, and maintains preventive maintenance records.
  • Write specifications for critical facilities equipment and computer/software systems.
  • Perform data center capacity planning and forecasting.
  • Provide 24/7 on-call service for emergency situations.
  • Plan, schedule, conduct, coordinate, and direct major projects or numerous small projects with complex features, using independent judgment and discretion.

Work Location: Cary- Hybrid, NC 

 

Required qualifications 

  • 5 years of experience in Electrical and / or Mechanical engineering

  • Associate of Applied Science degree in electrical engineering, electronics, or related field.

  • Experience in data center facility systems, electrical, UPS, generation, and/or mechanical systems

  • Excellent facilitation skills, including meeting content/agenda and proactive/creative management of issues.

  • Excellent problem-solving, organizational, written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently and with a team.

  • Valid NC Driver's License required. 

Preferred qualifications 

  • Electrical license
  • HVAC license
  • Proficient in MS/Office and Computer Added Design (CAD)
  • Knowledge of building monitoring systems (BMS)
