Job Description

Summer 2025 Software Developer Intern - Remote or Hybrid

Nice to meet you!

We’re a leader in data and AI. Through our software and services, we inspire customers around the world to transform data into intelligence - and questions into answers.

We’re also a debt-free multi-billion-dollar organization on our path to IPO-readiness. If you're looking for a dynamic, fulfilling career coupled with flexibility and world-class employee experience, you'll find it here.

What you’ll do

Looking for an internship with an extra touch and a sense of community? The game-changing internship that’ll help feel seen but also help you learn, grow, and chart your path forward? You’ll find it at SAS. We’re looking for superstar STEM interns who love to design, develop, debug and support software. As a United in STEM Intern, you’ll work with (and learn from) the best as you tackle multiple meaningful projects, attend exclusive events, and make memorable connections that last beyond the summer.

We’re proud to be recognized as industry leaders for our Anti-Money Laundering and other compliance solutions. As people around the world go about their daily lives, our solutions are working hard on deciphering and finding patterns in the vast number of events happening throughout our domestic and global financial systems. Perhaps the events are related, perhaps they are nefarious, and perhaps they require our customers to expeditiously report this illicit behavior to the proper authorities. Join us, and you can help make the world safer and more secure, one customer at a time. Check out more details here: https://www.sas.com/en_us/solutions/fraud-security-intelligence.html

You will be working as a member of the Anti-Money Laundering development team performing the exact same tasks that we all do; creating the best solutions for our customers by fixing field found issues and working on new features for our next releases. Our intention is for you to experience the daily life of a software developer.

As an intern, you might:

  • Look at our production code, find the bug, and squash it in time for the next release.
  • Consider our new requirements and see if you can find a way to meet those customer expectations.
  • Dive deeper into your understanding of what the Cloud is, and how we use it to our advantage.

Required Qualifications

  • Degree Type: Associates, Bachelor’s
  • Targeted majors: Computer Science
  • You’ve got programing experience in one or more of the following languages: Java, goLang, Javascript, SQL
  • You’re curious, passionate, authentic, and accountable. These are our values and influence everything we do.
  • Strong communication skills – both written and verbal.
  • Leadership abilities. Your past experiences demonstrate you’ll take initiative and go above and beyond the call of duty.
  • You’re interested in the future of Analytics and embrace technology.
  • You’re a college student enrolled in an accredited program, not graduating prior to December 2025.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Programming aptitude in all things Javascript, for instance Angular, React, TypeScript, or generic JavaScript.
  • Programming experience with our back-end service choices of goLang or Java.
  • Familiarity with Kubernetes and containerization, maybe even a healthy curiosity about Microsoft Azure.

Internship dates: May 20, 2025 – August 8, 2025. We can be flexible on start date if your university is on a quarter system.  Internships last 12 weeks in total length.

Perks of the job

  • You will receive a mentor and professional development opportunities.
  • Exclusive networking opportunities, a Data 4 Good project, and a Diversity Speaker Series with guest speakers!
  • Work with (and learn from) the best. As a SAS intern, you’ll get face time with our top executives!
  • Free SAS programming training and certification.
  • At SAS, the Future of Work is whatever you want it to be. Want to work remotely? That’s cool. Prefer a mix of sweatpants and in-person collaboration? That’s great, too.
  • Your well-being matters, and that’s why we support all dimensions of your well-being by offering programs that reduce stress and distractions to help you stay healthy and productive.  This includes an on-site and remote Work/Life Center staffed by master’s level Social Workers and an Employee Assistance Program.
  • We work hard, but we like to play hard, too. Enjoy hackathons, social events and other opportunities to connect + engage.

Diverse and Inclusive

At SAS, it’s not about fitting into our culture – it’s about adding to it. We believe our people make the difference. Our diverse workforce brings together unique talents and inspires teams to create amazing software that reflects the diversity of our users and customers. Our commitment to diversity is a priority to our leadership, all the way up to the top; and it’s essential to who we are. To put it plainly: you are welcome here.
